Pump and Plumbing Installation

Pumps, pipes, valves and fittings sized so water moves freely and the system runs quietly and efficiently.

Water systems fail at the plumbing more often than anywhere else. A pipe that is too small, a bend that kills flow or a check valve in the wrong place can turn a good pump into a poor performer.

We design and install pump and plumbing systems with enough pipe diameter, gentle bends, valves where you need them and unions where you will service them. We match the pump to the head and flow needed and add pre-filters to protect the impeller.

Pipe size and flow

Water loses energy to friction in small or twisting pipes. Larger pipe and fewer sharp turns let a smaller pump do the same job, saving electricity.

Valves and unions

A ball valve lets you tune the flow, and a union lets you disconnect the pump without cutting pipe. We add both in places you can reach.

Electrical safety

Pond and fountain power should be protected by a ground fault device. We coordinate with a qualified electrician for new circuits and outlets.

Quiet operation

Rubber isolators, soft hose connections and a level base cut pump noise and vibration. Quiet pumps get used and loud ones get turned off.

Questions

Pump and Plumbing FAQ

What size pump do I need?

It depends on pond volume, waterfall width and lift. Our pump tool gives a good starting figure.

Should I use an external or submersible pump?

Submersible pumps are simple and common. External pumps suit larger systems and are easier to service.

Why is my pump flow lower than the box says?

Pump ratings are at zero lift. Height, pipe length and bends lower the real flow.

Do I need a check valve?

Sometimes. A check valve stops water draining back when the pump shuts off, but it can reduce flow, so we use it only where it helps.

Can my pump be quieter?

Often yes. Mounting and plumbing changes reduce noise.
