FAQ

Getting started

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. Estimates are free and come with no obligation. You approve the scope and price before any work begins.

What areas do you serve?

Nashville and communities across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and more. See the service areas page for the full list.

Do you work for homeowners, builders and businesses?

All three. We work for homeowners, builders, landscapers, farms, property managers and commercial owners.

What kinds of jobs do you take?

Ponds, waterfalls, streams, fountains, filtration, lighting, cleaning, maintenance and repairs. Big or small, we are glad to look at it.

FAQ

Design and building

How big should my pond be?

Bigger ponds are easier to keep clear. Many owners are happy with eight by eleven feet or larger, and we size it to your space and goals.

How deep should a pond be?

Two feet is a minimum for goldfish in our climate. Three feet or more suits koi and keeps the water steadier in a heat wave.

Do I need a permit or approval?

Often not for a small garden pond, but rules vary by city, HOA and project. We tell you what usually applies and help you ask the right office.

Do I need to call 811?

Yes. Anyone who digs should call 811 first. We make the call for our own projects and help you with yours.

FAQ

Fish, plants and water

Why is my pond green?

Sunlight and nutrients feed algae. Better filtration, more plants, less feeding and a UV clarifier usually clear it. Our algae guide walks through it.

How many fish can I keep?

Fewer than most people expect. Volume, depth and filtration set the limit, and our fish tool gives a cautious starting number.

Will a pond attract mosquitoes?

Moving, healthy water is not a good mosquito nursery. Fish, circulation and a waterfall keep larvae down.

FAQ

Equipment and electricity

How much electricity does a pond use?

A modest pump uses little power. An efficient pump and a sensible flow keep running costs low.

Who does the electrical work?

A qualified electrician makes new circuits and outlet connections. We coordinate with them and handle the water side.

Do I need a filter?

For a fish pond, yes. Mechanical and biological filtration remove waste and keep water clear.

FAQ

Care and seasons

Do you offer maintenance?

Yes. We offer one-time cleanings, seasonal startup and closing and scheduled service plans.

Can fish stay out all winter?

In a pond that is deep enough and has gas exchange, yes. We help you prepare the pond for cold weather.

Can you repair a pond you did not build?

Yes. We start with an inspection, then recommend a repair or a rebuild.

FAQ

Restoration and aftercare

Will my lawn be restored?

Yes. We rake, regrade and repair the work area, and sod or seed bare spots where needed.

What happens to the extra soil?

We use it for berms and grading where it helps, and haul away the rest.

Do you give a care guide?

Yes. Every project ends with a walk-through and a simple written care guide.
