Planned overflow paths that carry storm water safely past your pond, falls and banks instead of washing them out.
Every pond needs a safe place for extra water to go. Without one, a hard rain can overtop a bank, wash out a stream or flood a patio. An overflow is a small thing that prevents a big mess.
We design and build overflows that suit the size of the feature. Small garden ponds get a buried overflow pipe or a stone-lined notch that sends extra water to a rain garden or a safe slope. Larger ponds and farm dams get a wide, stable spillway lined with grass, stone or concrete.
The overflow is sized for heavy rain, not a normal day. We look at the contributing area, the slope and where the water will go and make sure it ends somewhere harmless.
Fast water erodes soil. We line spillways and outlets with stone, turf reinforcement or concrete where needed, and we add energy-dissipating rock at the exit.
Leaves and sticks can block an overflow just when it is needed. Screens, wide openings and easy access make it simple to check and clear after a storm.
After a heavy rain, walk the overflow and look for debris and erosion. A quick check right away prevents small damage from growing.

Yes. Even a small pond benefits from a defined overflow so storm water has an easy route away.
It should go to a safe place, such as a rain garden, a drainage swale or a slope with stable cover. We plan this at the start.
Usually yes. We can notch the edge, add a buried pipe or build a spillway where the water naturally wants to leave.
Check it after storms and clear leaves from any screen or opening. We offer quick service visits if you prefer.
Look for blocked screens, washed soil at the outlet and any new cracks in stone or concrete.
