Small decks, footbridges and benches that let you cross, sit beside or hang over the water.
A pond is better when you can get close. A little deck lets you sit with your feet near the water, a bridge crosses a stream and a bench by the falls gives you a place to rest and watch the fish.
We build and coordinate small structures around water features, from stone steps and stepping stones to timber decks and arched bridges. Each one is placed so it is safe, stable and set well away from the pond liner and the plumbing. We plan the footings first, then the framing and finishes, so the structure looks like it belongs to the pond rather than sitting on top of it.
Structures near water need solid footings, non-slip surfaces and sensible railings where height or children are concerned. We discuss safety before we draw anything.
Posts and footings can puncture a liner. We plan the structure so loads sit on solid ground, not the liner, and we protect every connection point.
Cedar, stone and composite all look good near water. We match your house and choose finishes that stand up to splash and humidity.
Cedar and composite handle moisture well. Pressure-treated lumber is sometimes used with the right sealing. We choose for looks, strength and care.
