Winding streams with pools, riffles and small falls that carry water across a slope or between ponds.
A stream turns a plain slope into a living path. Water curves around boulders, drops into small pools and murmurs across river stone. Done well, it looks like a stream that was already there.
We build streams with a stepped profile, using pools to slow the flow and riffles to speed it up. The liner is carried up the banks and hidden under stone, and the pump delivers water to the top through a buried line. Plants and gravel tie the edges into the surrounding landscape.
A stream needs a gentle fall along its length with small drops where the sound is wanted. We measure the grade, plan the pools and use the existing slope instead of fighting it.
Streams lose water when banks slump or the liner is exposed. We set the liner above the waterline and stack stone so the edges hold and splash returns to the stream.
Ferns, grasses and iris along the banks give a wild look and keep the soil in place. We choose plants that suit sun, shade and moisture along the route.
Streams look best when the flow is strong in spring and steady in summer. A flow valve lets you adjust the stream for the season, and an auto-fill tops it off in hot weather.

Streams can be short and simple or long and winding. Longer streams need more flow and more careful plumbing, and we size the pump to match.
A decorative stream is not a drainage system by itself, but we can design overflow paths and dry creek beds that handle storm water.
Some water evaporates, especially in summer. A well-built stream loses very little otherwise, and an auto-fill valve keeps the level steady.
Yes, with a series of small drops and pools. Steep hills make beautiful cascades and need careful stone work.
