Find out why a pond is green or cloudy and fix the cause with better balance, filtration and plants.
Green water and string algae are the most common pond complaints, and they have a pattern. Sunlight, nutrients and still water feed algae. Take away enough of those and the pond clears.
We start by looking at how the pond is set up: how much sun it gets, how many fish live in it, how much plant cover there is and how well the water circulates. Then we combine measures that fit, such as better skimming, more filtration, more plants, a UV clarifier, bacteria and a cleanout of built-up muck.
Free-floating algae blooms when nutrients and sunlight are plentiful. Too many fish, too much feed, leaf decay and strong sun are the usual drivers.
Hair-like string algae grows on rock and waterfalls. It is eased by good circulation, hand removal, plant competition and some targeted products. A UV clarifier will not stop it.
Even with the right changes, a pond can take a few weeks to settle. We set expectations and follow up to adjust.
Clear water that lasts comes from a balance of plants, fish, filtration and circulation. We help you set that up so you are not fighting algae every month.

It may clear water for a short time, but it does not remove nutrients. Fixing the balance gives longer results.
Mild algae is harmless, but heavy blooms can use up oxygen at night. Aeration and cleaning help.
Covering around half the surface with leaves such as water lilies helps shade the water and compete for nutrients.
Sunlight, heat and nutrients peak in summer. Better filtration, plants and shade usually fix it.
Balance fish numbers, keep surface cover, filter well and clean debris often.
